History of the Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique was developed in the late 1980s by Francesco Cirillo, who used a tomato-shaped kitchen timer ("pomodoro" means "tomato" in Italian) to break his work into focused intervals. Each interval, traditionally 25 minutes of work followed by a short break, is called a "pomodoro." Cirillo found that this simple method helped him stay focused and productive.

Since then, the Pomodoro Technique has become a popular productivity method worldwide, embraced by students, professionals, and anyone looking to manage their time more effectively.
